I just put the 5th incarnation of the deceased Stay Gallery online.

With the 5th incarnation I’ve moved all the javascript over to the wonderfully tiny MooTools library and did yet another round of re-factoring to the markup and css. The positive upshot of which is much better loading times and with the intervention of intelligently used onDOMready and onLoad events we are free of the ‘onload’ problem. Animations are now smoother and without that moment when things got ugly in Stay Gallery < 5.

Sometimes people ask me, “why are you working on that?” The answer is simple enough, it’s a good test bed, a good portfolio site, indifferent to breakage and just sitting there on my server.

the images on the workbook entry for Stay Gallery have not been updated; since most of the changes were in the behavior layer it’s best to just visit the site to get a feel for the improvements.
