Act Two, Scene Ten
process
I knew originally that whatever I did would be viewed in a theater atmosphere; 10×10’ projection, stadium seating, great sound, darkness, quiet etc. That foreknowledge certainly shaped my decision to make a monochromatic silent movie. I’ve always had an affinity for the compositions of John Cage and at that time was particularly interested in his “ambient compositions” by which he allowed the audience and the natural noise of the venue to either become or, at least, alter the score. I was more interested in the extreme case and opted to let the ambient noise be the sound track.
design
This was my first attempt at a purely digital project and my first attempt with video. The primitiveness is apparent in the complete lack of post-production; my computer was too slow, didn’t have any tools (except Quicktime) and didn’t have any idea the difficulties involved with video.
result
An oddly moody video with no context or subtext or anything all, just a gray blotch. There is also a full quality torrent download available.
