design

The site was a set of Flash files, despite there being no animation or custom behaviors used anywhere in the project, when we (Raffael Rottler of bi.sign Werbeagentur and myself) took over the project.

process

The task was not to re-design the site, but instead to as faithfully as possible copy the Flash design into HTML/CSS/Javascript. First, the practically illegible typeface was replaced by a standard sans-serif one. Second, a real hierarchy was created for the site, so pages can be navigated with the standard back and forward buttons available in every web browser as opposed to the hostile “you must navigate how we dictate” Flash non-navigation the previous “designer” implemented. Finally, very basic Javascript behavior were used to replicate the rollover effects from the Flash site.

result

The result is a site that does not senselessly rely on proprietary toolkits and plug-ins (ie. Adobe Flash), can actually be maintained and works in browsers across a variety of platforms.
